Surf Cams

Surf cams are a brilliant but they must be viewed with care or you could end up missing a brilliant session or getting down to the beach with your stick instead of your skimboard.

Here are few tips on surf cams that may help you when you're using them to help plan your sesh:

  • Always check the date on the image itself if it has one. Sometimes when a surf cam stops working it will just show the last image that was available. This is especially typical of the Summerleaze webcams.
  • Sometimes a surf cam can make the surf look good when it's bad and visa versa. They could look like nice clean faces but the waves could be spilling and have no power.
  • Kinda like the last point but with wave height, it might look like 1ft but it could be a lull or the altitude of the camera. After using the camera for a few sessions you should be able to start to form a better idea of what the surf is 'really like'.
